Stay Safe in the sun

As the weather becomes , as the tabloids would say, a “scorcher” thought I would see what action I could take to stay safe.

1)      Stay well hydrated -this was advised by various sites. Recommendations is to drink (as an adult) at least 2 litres of water a day.

2)      Don’t spare the lotion – apply plenty of sun screen, HHS recommends SPF 30 or higher with at least 4-star UVA protection

3)      NHS also advises that you should cover up – wear hats and sunglasses.

4)      Protect the young, Keep babies under 6 months completely out off direct strong sunlight.        Source https://www.nhs.uk › Healthy living › Seasonal health

Protect the countryside and wildlife from litter:

As summer approaches and with the good weather people like to enjoy the countryside, but I would ask that this is enjoyed responsibly.

Litter can cause a lot of environmental damage and endangers wildlife – there are, however, a few simple steps to help:

1)      Dispose of all rubbish in the proper recycle bin or take home with you. However, these can overflow or a gust of wind can blow items out so you can also;

2)      Always crush used drink cans – this prevents small animals getting trapped inside.

3)      Crush used plastic bottles and replace the top – this again prevents snmall animals getting trapped inside.  Both of these also, reduce the room taken upin the proper bin.

4)      Take glass rubbish home to prevent accidental breakage and the dangers caused by this.

5)      Rip open bags / containers so they can’t become a trap.

Why eat the Rainbow – by eating various different coloured foods you are getting the nutrients, antioxidants and fibre you require:

Red foods contain lycopene, which is linked to heart health and cellular protection.

Orange & Yellow foods are loaded with beta-carotene, which supports immune function and vision.

Green foods provide chlorophyll and rich dietary fibre to support digestion and bone health.

Blue & Purple foods contain anthocyanins, which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties and support brain health

One of the best ways, I think, we can help the environment is to be Bee Friendly. How can you help:

Buy locally sourced honey – this is also good for you. If you suffer from  hay fever studies have shown that consuming local honey can help.

Grow bee friendly plants and flowers (such as lavender, crocus and marjoram – lavender and marjoram have uses as well)

Provide a source of water

How about putting your artistic and craft side to use and building a bee hotel
